Learning from difficulties

Life is full of challenges, be it at home, school or among your peers. And sometimes, when you least expect it, you might find yourself in a tough situation. What goes through your mind when you’re faced with something difficult? Do you think that your life is going badly and start complaining? Do you think, “Why does this keep happening to me?”

While it’s easy and even tempting to adopt the “woe is me” mind frame, it is not the best attitude to have. According to the Law of Attraction, if you feel negatively about yourself, more negative things will be attracted to you. So instead of feeling miserable and sorry for yourself, the best approach is to “roll with the punches.”

This means, if you’re faced with a difficult situation, or if things aren’t going your way, you mustn’t think of it as a hindrance, or that bad things only happen to you. Instead, think of the difficulty as part of your route to success. If you allow it to, hardship can bring you positive results. Here’s how to turn the tables on your problems and start learning from your difficulties:

  1. Be more appreciative
    Difficulties can help you to develop a deeper appreciation for the good things in your life, which may have gone unnoticed.
  2. Valuable lessons
    Hardship teaches you to work harder and smarter, and helps you to learn from your mistakes. By reflecting on your difficulties, you can find better solutions that will serve you in the future.
  3. Sweeter success
    When you’re faced with adversity, and you manage to overcome it, your success will be that much sweeter.
  4. Become stronger
    If you don’t let them overcome you, challenges and problems can make you stronger and more resilient.
  5. Problems are opportunities
    Each and every problem you face gives you the opportunity to be better in every way, be it what you’re doing or how you’re behaving.

By adopting a positive mindset in the face of difficulties, you’ll no longer be sabotaging yourself with negative thoughts and instead, you can begin to attract better circumstances. Remember, the Law of Attraction is always present and it is observing you. If you work hard to resolve issues with a positive approach, the Universe will lend you a hand.

This is why, in our HeadStart Programme, we Nurture a Growth Mindset and we coach students and their parents about the Law of Attraction, as well as how to apply the tools that can drive them towards success and greatness.

The five main objectives of the ‘HeadStart’ Programme are to:

  1. Neutralise and shift the existing mindsets of students to a ‘growth mindset’, thus opening them up to the potential for increased performance and positive change;
  2. Identify and overcome fears, doubts and limiting beliefs, which are ‘roadblocks’ to experiencing significant progress;
  3. Take 100% ownership and accountability and responsibility for the results being generated both in school and at home;
  4. Increase the culture of positivity, construct uplifting environment and build cohesive family units which results in harmonious and empowering relationships; and
  5. Equip and empower teens to thrive in a rapidly changing social and work environment

So the next time you bump into a roadblock to achieving your goals, look at it as a golden opportunity. Instead of lamenting your bad luck, nurture a positive perspective and welcome the chance to learn and grow. This is one way to let difficulties work in your favour and to get the Law of Attraction support you on your way to success.
